It came quite suddenly - a gust of high wind at 2am,
which resulted in damage to the Scout's' Mess Tent.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS - 1977

Sunday 5th June 6.30pm Jubilee Service at Parish Church

Monday 6th June 2.30pm

Special Cricket Match - WITCOMBE v SHURDINGTON, the first annual match to be played between the two villages for the JOHN HOPE JUBILEE CUP. this year at Witcombe.

10pm (approx)

BONFIRE ON SHURDINGTON HILL (prepared by Shurdington Scouts)
Tuesday 7th June 9.15am JUBILEE DAY - Holy Communion at the Parish Church

12.00 noon

Televised service from St Paul's Cathedral followed by Queen's Jubilee Speech

3.00pm

Fancy dress competitors and decorated floats assemble on the village green. (Classes and entry form in the last Bulletin. Entries giving name and Class to Mrs Godwin by June 6th).

3.30pm

Judging of fancy dress and decorated floats.
3.45pm Presentation of Trophies.
4.00pm Procession of floats and fancy dress through the village, led by Miss Jubilee and Attendants.
4.45pm Arrive at Playing Field.
5.00pm National Anthem and welcoming address by Jubilee Committee Chairman (Rev. C D Bradley).
5.15pm Novelty Cricket Match "Them" against "Us" and FAMILY PICNIC TIME.
6.15pm Novelty races for all.
7.15pm Weigh-in of sponsored slimmer Mr Paul Baker. (Enter your forecast now at the Post Office).
7.30pm Tug of War.
8.00pm - 11.00pm Floodlit DISCO.
ALSO

Tea and light refreshments will be on sale in the Pavilion (Shurdington W.I.)

Drinks will also be on sale at a Kiosk on the Bell Inn lawn (by arrangement with Mrs James)

Other competitions and stall will be set up for amusement and interest.

P.S. DON'T FORGET YOUR PICNIC

If it is wet there will be a limited programme of events at the Social Centre.
